Mac（OSX 10.9 Marvericks, 10.10 Yosemite, 10.11 El Capitan）でメール（Mail.app）の全データを一番手っ取り早く簡単にバックアップ＆復元する方法を紹介します。それは、「２つのフォルダーをコピー（バックアップ）＆差し替える（復元）」だけです。（ただしこの方法では、送受信のパスワードは復元されません。パスワードは、Keychain に保存されています）
※10.10 以前のバックアップフォルダーは、そのままでは 10.11 で読み込むことができません。移行方法は、こちらで解説しています。
【バックアップ方法】
次の２つのフォルダーをコピーします。（コピーされたフォルダーそのものが、バックアップファイルです。DVD-R や USB メモリーなどに保存しておけます）
１，user/Library/Mail/V2 (10.11 El Capitan は V3)
２，user/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
【復元方法】
先ほどの２つのフォルダーを、復元したいシステム上の同じフォルダーと差し替えます。
この方法を使えば、簡単に別の Mac やクリーンインストールした Mac にメールデータを移行することもできます。

この方法を今まで愛用していたのですが、El Capitan への移行では上手くいきませんでした。エラー等は発生しませんがメールボックス、アカウント共に表示されませんでした。
そうですか。自分ではまだ導入が先の予定なので試していません。
仕様が変わったのかもしれませんね。
10.8から10.9の時も変わっていたような気がします。
近々、テスト機で確認しようとは思っています。
Yosemite (10.10) からEl Capitan (10.11) への完全復元に成功しました。
読み込めなかった原因は、10.11ではMailが読み込むフォルダー名が変更されているせいです。
10.10以前のバックアップしたファイルを、手動でそれぞれ適したフォルダー内に置き直せば、また全てのメールやメールフォルダーを読み込んでくれます。このとき、初起動でない場合は、先に「Envelope Index」で始まるファイルを削除してから起動します。
